Two recent faves

Hi - I have recently really enjoyed "House of the Scorpion" by Nancy Farmer, and "In a gathering light" by Jennifer Donnelly. These two books are set in completely different time periods - the first is set in a not too unbelievable future and the second takes place in the early twentieth century- but both narratives centre around a main character who is yearning for a sense of identity and "self". Both are spectacularly written and are gripping to the very end - enjoy!!
