This is the second in a trilogy. I found it uninteresting as it is too light. However it is a children's book and would be quite suitable for young readers. The reality of a pirate's life is described with good detail on ship maintenance, domestic life on board, and the politics of the time. It is set in the time of Nelson and Napoleon on the seas near Malta. Lily, known as Cyg by her mates is the pivotal character. These mates are kind, blundering and family to her. They are not so good at being pirates. The reality of stealing and killing are well hidden in this book so it is suitable for young readers.
It was published in 2006. The author lives in New Zealand now, used to live in Melbourne but the blurb doesn't say where she was born. Odd omission.
No record of this book on the amazon site.
