Icefire, Chris D'Lacy - If you like dragons, you'll love it!

After reading just the first chapter of this book, I loved it! It is part of a series of books called the Fire Star trilogy, and is actually the second book. Unlike other series of books I have read this one does not require you to read the first book first to help make the 2nd book make sense. Infact, I don't know how the 1st book could top this one!
The main idea in the story is about a lady who makes clay dragons at her home. She has a border living there, named David. David was given a dragon when he arrived, named Gadzooks, who is a writing dragon (David is a writer) and when he imagines Gadzooks when he is stuck for ideas, the dragon writes ideas down on his notepad. The mystery of the dragon begins in the very first chapter, when Lucy, the daughter of the dragon maker, creates a wishing dragon. Her wish is for snow (because dragons love the snow). David who thinks the dragon thing is a load of rubbish laughs, especially because it is such a beautiful day, but by the time he reaches university (10min!) it begins to snow.
The story is about finding the truth behind the mystery of the legends of dragons.
I have now actually used this book in my class, and everyone made their own dragons to help them through the year.
Absolutely brilliant! I'm hoping to read the others in the series now!
