Poetry Pudding : a delicious collection of rhyme and wit - Jenny Argante, editor

Over 100 poems written by 44 NZ poets for NZ kids.

Argante thought "...there weren't enough good poems around by Kiwi poets for Kiwi kids." So she decided to do something about it. She began by writing to poets she knew and asking them to write a poem for a new book. Initially, she thought a poem for each letter of the alphabet and wrote making such a request. On receiving the poems she discovered that, while her 'rules' hadn't been followed, she had a great collection of poems.

This is a splendid collection of different poems from a variety of poets, some, like David Hill, better known for fiction than poetry. I enjoyed dipping in and out of this collection, reading 4 or 5 at a time. Would be great to use as a basis for developing a class collection as the variety of styles show that anything is possible and you don't always have to follow the poetry 'rules'.
