A very good read of 3 generations of men in a traditional family in a Samoa village. The story mainly follows Tauilopepe who takes on the worst of aspects of westernisation; greed, corruption and exploitation, and the effects this has on his family and village. The end has a real twist to it that I am not sure I follow, so will need to reread the last chapter.
I recommend this book especially to those who have a large Polynesian content in their schools.
