Tasting the sky. A Palestinina childhood - by Ibtisam Barakat

A memoir of a young Palestinian girl living in Ramallah on the West Bank during the 6 day war between Israel and Palestine. Details every day life but is not political in that it does not apportion blame to any side, it simply describes her daily life. An excellent read for any age particularly as this issue is very current and this part of the world still lives with the after-math of this war today.

Powerfully written as it comes from the differing points of view of her age at different times in her life. From her feelings of loss as a tiny child when separated from her parents, to her anger at the restrictions placed on her in her teens, despite the obvious potential danger she is in. Love her friendship with the alphabet too!
