Sweet Briar Goes to Camp by Karma Wilson

This book has a great message about how to treat others as you would like to be treated. Sweet Briar is a skunk who goes to camp. Along the way, through meeting a porcupine named Petal, she makes the other campers realise what it feels like to be teased and left out of the group, and what it means to be a real friend. I did think though that the storyline was a bit too much. Older children probably would not buy into it but it would appeal to kids around five years old. A good book to start the year with teaching juniors about how to be friends.
