My Story: Kauri In My Blood by Joanna Orwin

This book is part of the My Story series from Scholastic - all these books are written as diary entries from the viewpoint of a child. This book is set in the Coromandel in the 1920s, and focuses on life in a kauri logging camp. Laura keeps a diary of what it's like to live in a bush camp & work with her mother as a bush cook. It is based on a true story. While I mostly found it interesting to read, there are quite long descriptions of how the machinery used to log kauri trees worked. I tended to skip through these parts! However, it still was a good read and was interesting to read about a part of New Zealand's history.
